Palo Santo resin from Peru
 
Everyone is familiar with the small Palo Santo logs, this scented wood from South America, Peru, Ecuador... used to perfume or purify the house.
The resin of this tree is a much rarer product. It is a mixture of pieces and fragments, grey in colour, sometimes yellow as well as powder. The resin, like the wood, has the same characteristic aniseed smell.
When fumigated, it smells not unlike copal and even has some resinous notes that can be reminiscent of certain types of frankincense.
