Somali Frankincense Powder
Frankincense resin reduced to powder. The fragrance and virtues are identical to those of Somali frankincense in pieces, such as Boswellia carterii.
In powder form, frankincense can be added to mixtures or used to make incense cones or sticks.
For home incense making, prefer Makkō wood powder (Tabu no Ki or Machilus thunbergii) as a base, which is both a binder and a combustible, and can easily and quickly produce a paste with a little water. Add a small amount of frankincense powder (myrrh, copal, Palo Santo, etc.) and let the cones or sticks dry.
Note that another advantage of incense powder, added on top of burning charcoal, is that it produces a lot of smoke quickly.
