Genuine White Copal from Mexico
 
Genuine Copal blanco or Protium copal, originates from Central America, more precisely from Mexico. There are several types, but three are commonly used: White Copal, Black Copal and Oro Copal. These three varieties are harvested from trees of the Burseraceae family (like frankincense, myrrh or Palo Santo) and should not be confused with other resins such as Congo Copal from Africa, Kauri from Australia or Manila Copal from Indonesia.
 
White copal was already revered in Mayan times, where it was burnt in ceremonies. In Mexico, it is still widely used today like frankincense in Africa or the Middle East. It provides a spiritual purification, a connection to the spirit realm. It is a substance favoured by shamans for its magical powers.
 
Burned on charcoal, it gives off a clear, fruity, lemony scent that purifies the energy of the space and your energy field. It also promotes spiritual and mental activity.
